President's Message - September 2024
President's Message - September 2024
As we welcome the arrival of fall, with its crisp air and vibrant colors, it’s a wonderful time to pause and reflect on the strength of our community. This season of change is a reminder of the constant support and connection that fuels our Chamber. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each of you for your continued engagement and trust in the Springfield Regional Chamber. Your votes have honored us with the title of Best Chamber of Commerce in The Republican's Reader Raves for the twelfth year in a row, and we are truly thankful for your recognition.
I hope to see you bright and early on September 19th for our Rise & Shine event: Changing Lives Through Post-Incarceration Employment at the Sheraton Springfield. We’re partnering with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) for this event, where we’ll discuss how employers can play a pivotal role in transforming lives through post-incarceration employment. You’ll learn about the important work EOPSS is doing both during and after incarceration, as well as learn about the supports available for businesses who chose to tap this large section of the workforce. You’ll hear inspiring stories from Chamber members who work to support justice involved individuals. I encourage you to join us for this important conversation to learn about the truly life-changing work being done in this area.
Then in October, we’ll continue the momentum with our next Rise & Shine event: Understanding The 2024 Ballot Questions on October 17th at the Marriott Springfield Downtown. This event is designed to help you make informed decisions at the polls. With five significant questions on the ballot, covering issues like tipped wages, independent drivers, education standards, state auditor powers, and the medical use of psychedelic mushrooms, it’s more important than ever to be well-prepared. We’ll also provide an overview of the new pay transparency law in Massachusetts, ensuring you have all the information you need as election day approaches.
And as we move further into our event season, I’m eagerly anticipating our Super 60 luncheon on November 8th at the MassMutual Center. This is one of our signature events, where we come together to celebrate the exceptional businesses and nonprofits that are making a real difference in our community. We’re thrilled to have Tania Barber, CEO of Caring Health Center, as our keynote speaker. Her story is one of true dedication and impact.
I’d like to remind you that the window for Super 60 nominations is closing soon! We’re on the lookout for exceptional businesses and nonprofits that have made a remarkable difference in our community. If you know of any organization that deserves recognition for their significant contributions, please be sure to submit your nomination by September 13th. Full details on the criteria for each of the five categories is available on our website and our new online submission process makes it easier than ever to submit nominations.
As we embrace the fall season, I’m excited about the opportunities it brings to connect, learn, and grow together. I look forward to celebrating our business community at these upcoming events and sharing in the successes of those who make a difference every day. I wish you a wonderful start to the season and hope to see you at our Rise & Shine events and the Super 60 luncheon!
