President's Message - October 2024
President's Message - October 2024
As we enter election season, it’s a critical time for our community to focus on the policies that directly affect our businesses and local economy. Understanding what’s on the ballot is crucial, as the results will shape the future of our organizations and lives outside of work. We recognize that some ballot questions come with unexpected consequences, which is why we are committed to presenting both sides of these issues and providing our members with the tools they need to make informed decisions. The Springfield Regional Chamber supports the democratic process and believes in the power of informed decision-making.
I encourage you to join us for our Rise & Shine event: Understanding the 2024 Ballot Questions, on October 17th at the Marriott Springfield Downtown. This event is all about getting you ready for election day. We’ll be discussing some important topics on the ballot – like how tipped wages might change, what’s at stake for independent drivers, shifts in education standards, the role of the state auditor, and even the debate around the medical use of psychedelic mushrooms. We want to ensure our members feel fully informed and ready to make confident decisions when they head to the polls. You can read the Chamber's stance on ballot questions 2 and 5 here.
With November just around the corner, I’m especially looking forward to our Super 60 luncheon at the MassMutual Center. This annual celebration highlights the incredible work of businesses and nonprofits that are shaping our community. At this event, Caring Health Center CEO Tania Barber will share her inspiring journey of dedication and service, reminding us of the significant impact local non-profit organizations make in our lives.
This important election season doesn’t start or end when you visit the polling booth; our voice and continued efforts play a vital role in shaping our community’s future. We’re looking forward to these events that will facilitate meaningful conversations and connections within our community and can’t wait to see you on October 17th for Rise & Shine and November 8th for our Super 60 Celebration!
