Reese Fund Day of Compassion - June 24th

The Foundation for TJO Animals is proud to host the inaugural Reese Fund Day of Compassion on June 24th — a 24-hour giving campaign dedicated to helping animals who need us most.

The Reese Fund was created in honor of Reese, a dog who suffered severe abuse and cruelty before coming into the care of the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center. Though Reese’s life could not be saved, his story inspired a mission to provide emergency medical care and support for animals facing abuse, neglect, and critical need.

Funds raised during the Day of Compassion will help replenish the Reese Fund while also supporting the Foundation’s growing Pet Food Initiative, which focuses on preventing neglect and owner surrender by supplying wet and dry cat and dog food to local food pantries and families in need.

As part of the event, the Foundation will host an in-person pet food drive from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, 627 Cottage Street in Springfield. Community members are encouraged to donate wet and dry cat and dog food to help pets and families throughout the region.

The event will also feature Reese Fund merchandise, TJO swag giveaways, community supporters, and a food truck for visitors looking to grab lunch while supporting a meaningful cause.

Together, we can turn compassion into action and help create second chances for animals in need.
