President's Message - March 2026
President's Message - March 2026
Earlier this month, many of us woke up to news and photos of the early morning lunar eclipse that briefly lit up the sky. While some may have caught a glimpse of it before sunrise and others may have only seen it later in pictures, it was one of those reminders that even the quiet moments of a new day can hold something remarkable. March often feels a bit like that here in Western Massachusetts as well—a season where things begin to shift; momentum builds, and there’s a growing sense of what’s ahead.
That sense of momentum carried right into OUTLOOK 2026, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who joined us for what continues to be one of the Chamber’s most anticipated gatherings of the year. It was an incredible opportunity to hear directly from leaders shaping our economic future, including Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President and CEO Susan M. Collins, Governor Maura Healey, Secretary of Economic Development Eric Paley, Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, and Congressman Richard E. Neal. Events like OUTLOOK are special because of the people in the room. Business leaders, community partners, and policymakers all came together to share ideas, ask questions, and think about what’s next for our region. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so engaging and impactful.
Later this month, our Chamber will once again roll up its sleeves for something that truly reflects the spirit of this region. On March 31, we’ll gather at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts for our 3rd Annual Fill the Food Bank event. This effort brings our members together with the Greater Westfield, Greater Holyoke, West of the River, ERC5/East of the River, and Greater Chicopee Chambers of Commerce to support neighbors across Hampden County. It’s a simple idea: show up, bring a donation, and help make sure families in our region have access to the food they need. Every year, I’m reminded how quickly this community responds when there’s an opportunity to help.
In early April, we’ll start the morning a little differently with our next Rise & Shine Breakfast: Chasing the American Dream on April 9 at MGM Springfield. The program will feature individuals who began their lives in other countries and are now building businesses, careers, and opportunities right here in Western Massachusetts. Their experiences are powerful, their perspectives are inspiring, and the conversation is always one that stays with you long after the coffee cups are cleared.
Then on April 30, we’ll make our annual trip to Boston for the Beacon Hill Summit at the Massachusetts State House, hosted by Senator Adam Gomez and Representative Carlos Gonzalez. This is one of the most direct ways our members can engage with state leaders and share what they are seeing, experiencing, and needing as employers in our region. It’s a full day of conversations, questions, and perspective, and it’s always one of the most valuable advocacy opportunities we offer.
I look forward to seeing many of you soon. The Chamber calendar is always better experienced than explained.
