President's Message - January 2026

President's Message - January 2026

January has a gentle way of welcoming us back — with fresh calendars, renewed energy, and just enough optimism to believe this might be the year we finally keep a few of our resolutions (or at least approach them with good intentions). At the Chamber, the new year doesn’t ease in quietly. It begins with people coming together, meaningful conversations, and a sense of shared momentum.

We began the year by rolling up our sleeves and coming together at Bay Path University for our January Rise & Shine Breakfast, celebrating arts, culture, and recreation nonprofits. It was energizing to start 2026 by learning from leaders whose work strengthens our communities and supports economic growth across the region. The exchange of ideas and perspectives that morning set a positive tone for the year ahead and reminded me how much progress is possible when we gather with intention.

As our annual Government Reception on January 26 at Storrowton Tavern approaches, I’m looking forward to an evening that’s really about people. It’s a chance for business and community leaders to spend time with local and state officials, have open, honest exchanges, and begin relationships that last beyond a single evening. Sometimes the most meaningful progress starts with a simple introduction and a good conversation.

In early February, we’ll change the scenery for our February Rise & Shine Breakfast on February 5 at the Springfield Museums. There’s something special about starting the day surrounded by history, art, and imagination. It’s a setting that encourages curiosity and fresh thinking, and I hope you’ll join us for breakfast, connection, and conversation in one of Springfield’s most iconic spaces.

March brings one of our most anticipated events of the year: OUTLOOK 2026, taking place on March 6 at the MassMutual Center. This annual forum provides our business community with a valuable opportunity to step back, look ahead, and gain a deeper understanding of the economic and policy forces shaping our region and the broader economy. This year’s program features a compelling lineup of speakers, led by a keynote address from Susan M. Collins, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Collins contributes to the Federal Open Market Committee’s deliberations on U.S. monetary policy and brings timely insight into the economic forces affecting businesses and communities across New England and the nation. Since taking office in 2022, she has led the Boston Fed’s work in economic research, financial stability, community development, and financial innovation. Her perspectives will make OUTLOOK 2026 a must-attend event for leaders planning for the year ahead.

I also want to take a moment to highlight our 2026 Leadership Instituteoffered in partnership with Western New England University. Applications are due February 6, so the window to apply is closing soon. Designed for both emerging and experienced leaders, this program focuses on practical skill-building, thoughtful leadership, and real-world application. If you or someone on your team has been thinking about professional growth in the year ahead, I encourage you to take a look and apply before the deadline.

As the year gets underway, I hope 2026 brings you fresh ideas, good company, and plenty of reasons to feel hopeful about what’s ahead. Thank you for being part of a Chamber community that continues to lead with heart and purpose. I look forward to all the moments we’ll share along the way.
