Libertas Launches Mentoring Program for Top High School Seniors

Libertas Launches Mentoring Program for Top High School Seniors

It is with tremendous excitement that we are officially launching our search for mentors to support the top students in our senior class at Libertas. This initiative is part of our Top 10 Scholars Program and one of our primary focus areas is pairing a mentor with each student based on their educational and career interests. These students have all excelled academically and in addition to having the top GPAs in their class, they are also outstanding role models for their peers.

Below is an FAQ with more information and here is the official posting for the opportunity with the link to apply

FAQ

What is the time commitment for meeting with students?

We are asking mentors to commit to at least 30min every other week from November 2024 to June 2025 during the 10:30am-1:30pm time frame. These meetings would be virtual with the exception of a few important events:

1) October 23rd 5-6pm - Mentor Launch Dinner

2) May 28th (Time TBD) - Senior Signing Day

What are the student’s specific areas of interest?

Here is a list of each student’s current interests:

Business/Accounting/Finance

Biology/BioChem/Pre-Med

Mycology/Horticulture

Data Sciences/ Comp Sci

Business/Entrepreneurship

Computer Science/STEM

Education/English/Writing

Sports Mgmt/Business

Business/Entrepreneurship

Criminal Justice

Who should apply to mentor?

Anyone over the age of 21 with at least a bachelor's degree who is interested in supporting one of our students in their senior year of high school. You do not need to work in one of the areas of interest above, but prior experience or knowledge of at least one interest area is preferred.

How will mentors support students?

This will change throughout the year but first, mentors will support students with their college applications by reviewing essays and short responses. Mentors will also coach students on important topics of relevance related to college and career pursuits including email etiquette, financial literacy, and habits of self-care. Lastly, mentors will provide guidance to students on a "Leave a Legacy Project" that they will be presenting at the end of the year.

Is this opportunity compensated?

While we can not offer monetary compensation for this work, we believe that there are numerous intrinsic benefits to mentoring a high-achieving high school student and supporting them as they begin to explore a career field of interest. Please see the flier to learn more about the benefits.
